and 294 is here to stay

Days 281-294

October is a very busy month for me. My mother, brother, a niece and a nephew all have their birthday in October. My plus ones father and his sister also have their birthday in this month as well. So a lot of celebrating has happen and is still to happen during the next few weeks. We then get a short lull in the celebrations and then it will all ramp up again for Christmas.

Day 281:

We have tried to grow tomatoes before but failed.
I found an all in one kit to try again.

Day 281:

I received my syllabus and I am happily preparing for my next grading.

Day 281:

We had dinner at our favourite Japanese restaurant
and my side plate was very cute.

Day 281:

Friday night was all about home made pizza and s'mores at our friends house.

Day 281:

My adorable nephew celebrated his 1st birthday
with a small party in the park.

Day 281:

I had a quick little shopping trip buying a new work out top and a new purse.

Day 281:

Dallas waited very patiently for her dog chocolate and I waited
just as patiently for my chocolate.

Day 281:

I decided to run through my French lesson before
heading to bed so I wouldn't forget it.

Day 281:

We had a last minute, spur of the moment, rendezvous for
dinner across from my kickboxing gym.

Day 281:

I found these cute little pin-wheels at the shops. Perfect
 for our upcoming baking shoot.

Day 281:

I love my new apron. I brought it when I was on holiday in Queensland.

Day 281:

My friend and I made this huge sprinkle cake. It is 5 layers
of sponge with butterscotch buttercream icing.

Day 281:

One of my favourite things to do is to have a picnic. I love
planning for them and eating them.

Day 281:

Monday night was all about relaxing with some leftovers
and looking through my new book.

So that's it. That was my last fortnight. I am so happy with how the cake turned out. We were fairly nervous when we were moving it and rolling it around in the sprinkles. Here is a link to the cake instructions. Sprinkle Cake. We chose not to dye our cake but we made very colourful cupcakes to go with the 100's and 1000's.

Until next time.

and in loving memory of 280

Days 267-280

Days, weeks and fortnights seem to be tumbling by right now. The end of the year will soon be upon us and I am as busy as ever! As every day goes past, I am finding it harder and harder to think of something to take a photo of. I have a fairly constant routine during the week that it's rare to have something new to take a photo of ever day. So some subjects are starting to seem a little mundane. But here they are anyway!

Day 267:

This little cat didn't seem phase by my approach. He was rolling
around enjoying himself and then sat there happily while I took his photo.

Day 268:

I often like to try new treats, even if I never intend to buy it ever again.
These Twisties were 'mite and cheese flavoured. Interesting.

Day 269:

We decided to grab take away for dinner.
I store was recently renovated with funky lights.

Day 270:

I lovely sea of yellow.

Day 271:

Dougal came to the fence to see Dallas and I as we walked by.

Day 272:

An amazing high tea/degustation pot plant cake.
A present for my birthday from a friend.

Day 273:

I am getting impatient for the mulberries to be ready!
They are located in a park near my house and I walk Dallas past
them and stop to check there progress..

Day 274:

A dull day but still tea will always make me feel better.

Day 275:

Finally spring seems to be with us!

Day 276:

I was out and about picking up my nephews 1st birthday presents.
I stopped along the way to enjoy the view.

Day 277:

Trying out a new drink: Caramel Baileys. A prefect night cap.

Day 278:

Finally the day of my 10 year reunion had arrived. I travelled
down early and I went and checked out my old high school.
A fair bit had changed but it still looks beautiful.

Day 279:

I met up with my sister and her two boys and went to a kids
festival with them. I waited by the beach and
enjoyed another lovely view.

Day 280:

My first ever try of Ben & Jerry's. They have only just arrived in Australia.
My plus one and I sat down and ate the whole thing in one go!

Just a quick story about my reunion.

I was so terrified, I sat in my car for a few minutes trying to fix the buckle on my shoe. I was shaking so much that a simple task seemed so difficult. I walked in to the building and up the stairs. I walked into the function room and saw my friends in a group by the door. One of my old school friends turned around and said "Oh, she doesn't smile any more". At this point I almost burst into tears. My best friend grabbed me, gave me a hug and walked me out. I had to pause on the steps as my legs shook under me. We went out the front and she waited for me to calm down. I was hyperventilating and shaking. Which is completely, COMPLETELY pathetic of me. I was hoping for a grand entrance and I turned into a pathetic mess. I may be harsh on myself for reacting the way I did, but this is only because I know that nothing was wrong and that I basically talked myself into being scared. I told myself that I was going to be a mess, and I was! It took me a little while to breathe normally again and we rejoined the reunion. It took me a while to be comfortable again. But by the end of the night I was happily chatting away.

I was just being plain silly that's all. but, I turned up which is better than most.

Well until next time.
Love, love Elle.

Thursday 3 October 2013

and with great knowledge comes 266

Days 253-266

OK, spring has been a little disappointing so far. Not only has it been raining most of the time we have also had a lot of storms and some really windy days. My plans for being outside more have been so far dashed, bar a few walks. To compensate I have been getting back into reading, which I really should do a lot more of. I keep buying more books but I am not reading fast enough to keep up.

Day 253:

The last of my fruit salad with vanilla yoghurt.
I have been trying to make a fruit salad once
a week to keep my deserts healthier.

Day 254:

A few weeks back I did some clay modelling with my niece.
This little elephant tea pot was a bit too delicate so I needed to do some mending.

Day 255:

I remembered one of my favourite sandwiches from when I was little.
All you need is toast, butter/margarine and sliced canned beetroot. Simple perfection!

Day 256:

After buying these shoes a month ago I have spent I finally
found a bag to match. I think I did pretty good.

Day 257:

I spent the weekend down south for my sisters birthday. I stayed in a
3 bedroom apartment with my mum for some extra luxury.

Day 258:

The view of the bay from my hotel balcony in the morning.

Day 259:

My sad little bookcase. All of my cook books are on display in the
living room but there is no space for these ones. I think I
need to buy a nice wooden case for the study.
I struggled to fit my new purchases in

Day 260:

The best welcoming comity I could ever ask for.
She was waiting ever so patiently.

Day 261:

Another healthy dessert with a little naughty caramel
sauce on top. Life is all about balance!

Day 262:

A late night trip to the airport to send my plus one off to Sydney for a few days.

Day 263:

I decided to try out a new idea, dinner in bed. Spaghetti bolognaise
was probably not the best choice on cream sheets.

Day 264:

Home alone with some freshly cut flowers from my garden and some girly moves.

Day 265:

The cute tea cart my plus one brought back for me. A gift from his late grandmother.

Day 266:

I was given some sweet stationary from the Cancer Council in the mail.
I love the floral pattern of the card standing up.

So that's it, another fortnight done and now less than 100 days left to the end of the year. It is scary how close Christmas is. I can't wait! My big holiday next year is also creeping up, which I am excited and nervous about.

Until next time.
Love, love Elle.
